The Temple of Xumi Fushou is located on the south slope of Shizigou to the north of Chengde Summer Resort. In the forty-fifth year of Qianlong’s reign (1780), the Sixth Panchen Lama of Tibet traveled more than 20,000 miles to Chengde to celebrate the 70th birthday of Emperor Qianlong. Emperor Qianlong attached great importance to it. In order to solemnly welcome the arrival of the 6th Panchen Lama, he specially built the Xumi Fushou Temple for the 6th Panchen Lama to lecture and live. Therefore, this temple is also called the “Panchen Palace”. “Xumi Mountain”, the Tibetan name is “Zhahui”, which is an auspicious place for Jie to live; “Fushou”, the Tibetan name is “Lunbu”. Xumi Fushou means blessings and longevity like the auspicious Mount Xumi.
From south to north, the temple has main buildings such as the mountain gate, the stele pavilion, the glazed pavilion, the Dahongtai, the Jinhe Hall, the Wande Zongyuan Hall, and the glazed Wanshou Pagoda. They are arranged in a basically symmetrical arrangement along an obvious central axis. The overall architectural style of the temple is Tibetan style, and the detailed decoration is full of Han architectural colors, which is very special.
