Xiangshantang Traditional Chinese Medicine Store was founded by Lu Qingyu during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. The “xiang” in “Xiangshan” refers to the relatively precious Chinese medicines, and the “mountain” refers to the mountains of medicinal materials. The store faces north and faces south. There are three medicine cabinets on the east and north walls of the store, called “hundred-eye cabinets”, which store various commonly used traditional Chinese medicines. There is a ruler-shaped counter facing the street in the store, which is the workbench for collecting medicines in the pharmacy. In front of the store, the mottled old “North and South” signboard is somewhat dilapidated, but it still creaks in the river breeze.
