The Huguo Suiliangwang Temple, also known as the “Seven Masters” Temple, is a local temple built to commemorate an upright official during the Ming Dynasty. According to legend, there was a grain transport palace named Jin passing through Xitang. At that time, there was a severe drought, no grain was harvested, and there were people dying of hunger on the road. The condition was very miserable. Jin moved his compassion and distributed food relief privately. When Jin Jieliang arrived in Beijing, the court investigated him, and Jin died for the law. The people were grateful for his kindness and built this temple to commemorate him. Gold ranks seventh, so people call it “Seventh Master”. The third day of the fourth lunar month every year is the “Seven Masters Meeting Flood”. Therefore, every year on the 37th day of the fourth month of the lunar calendar, the temple fair is held here on the Lord’s birthday. On that day, people in Xitang will take to the streets to parade and pray for this year, which is very lively.
