The Qinian Gate is the main entrance to the courtyard of the Qinian Hall. It is a verandah-roofed building with five couplets, three doors in the middle, and a stone railing. It is the highest-level door system in ancient China. The middle door of the Qinian Gate is for the exclusive use of the Emperor and God. The emperor enters and exits through the left (east) door, and all officials enter and exit through the right (west) door. This building is original to the early Ming Dynasty.
