·It is built after the Five Dragon Pavilion and Seventeen-hole Bridge in Beihai, Beijing, just like the belt of Slender West Lake. There are five pavilions built on the bridge, hence the name Wuting Bridge. It is a symbol of Yangzhou’s scenery.
·Wuting Bridge was designed and built in the Qing Dynasty to welcome Qianlong’s southern tour. It has yellow tiles and red pillars, white railings, and painted caissons in the pavilion, which has the characteristics of southern architecture. Under the bridge are the thick piers of northern buildings.
·Wuting Bridge has 15 bridge holes. On a full moon night, each hole holds a month. The 15 full moons hang upside down in the water, competing to reflect each other. It is unique to go boating through the holes.
·Professor Mao Yisheng, a famous bridge expert, once commented: “The oldest bridge in China is the Zhaozhou Bridge, the most magnificent bridge is the Marco Polo Bridge, and the most beautiful and artistically representative bridge is the Wuting Bridge in Yangzhou.”
