Laojun Mountain is located in the eastern part of the Shennongjia Nature Reserve. According to legend, Taishang Laojun once smelted elixirs for the Jade Emperor and built furniture for the Shennong Yan Emperor. The climate here is cool, with abundant rainfall, widespread mountain springs, majestic mountains and beautiful scenery. Laojun Mountain is rich in biological resources and wild rare medicinal materials can be found everywhere. It is one of the primeval forest areas in Shennongjia. Climbing to the top of the peak, you can see the thousands of miles of Ruye to the east and the blue sky; to the west, you can see the peaks vying for heights, leading directly to Bashu; to the south, you can see the rolling Yangtze River, with silver snakes flying; to the north, you can see the vast forest sea, with green trees touching the sky. Therefore, it is known as “thousand-foot dangerous cliffs overlooking the blue sea, and hundred-foot-high pines supporting the cloud waves”. Its majesty, steepness, beauty and mystery can be seen.

transportation

  1. You can take the express bus bound for Xingshan County from Yichang, and then transfer to the bus from Xingshan to Shennongjia.
  2. There is a bus from Shiyan to Shennongjia at 7:00 every morning.
  3. There are shuttle buses to various scenic spots in Shennongjia Scenic Area before 7:30 every morning, but the number is not large. If you miss it, you can choose to charter a car. Non-air-conditioned 7-seat van: about 300 yuan/day, 10-seat air-conditioned van: about 500 yuan/day.
