Qingguo Lane is located in the south-central part of the old city of Changzhou, extending to Zhuochu Bridge on Heping Road in the east, directly to South Street of the Commercial Center in the west, and to the south is the moat. Qingguo Lane is one of the ancient streets in Changzhou. It was first built before the Wanli Year of the Ming Dynasty (1581). At that time, the canal entered Xishui Pass from Wenheng Bridge, passed through the East and West Ponds, passed through the city, and then exited Dongshuiguan and meandered eastward. Qingguo Alley faces the canal section of the city. At that time, there were many ships and it was the distribution center for fruits from the north and south. There were also fruit shops along the coast, so it was known as the “Thousand Fruit Alley”. “Changzhou Fu” says: “Entering the alley of thousands of fruits, the peach, plum, apricot and plum colors are all in bloom.” Later, the canal was rerouted, and the name of the alley still remains to this day. It is difficult to distinguish between “Qian” and “Qing” in Changzhou dialect, which is why the current “Qingguo Lane” came into being.
