This four-storey zigzag-shaped building with a silver-gray exterior and facing south to north was originally the Jiangxi Grand Hotel. It was first built in 1922 and completed in 1924. It adopts a combination of Chinese and Western architectural styles and has a Western-style appearance. The doors and windows are decorated with cement reliefs, and there is a large patio inside the building. There are four large water tanks for fire protection in the patio, showing the unique pattern of traditional Chinese architecture.
At 2 o’clock in the morning on August 1, 1927, with the sound of a gunshot, the August 1st Nanchang Uprising that shocked China and the world started.
