On South Street, there is a Chinese Rare Newspaper Exhibition Hall, formerly located in Yongqingxiang. It is reported that the museum has nearly a thousand kinds of rare newspapers in its collection, mainly from the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, including the Gazette of All Nations, the Commercial Official Gazette and the Sweeping Newspaper. The predecessor of the China Rare Newspaper Exhibition Hall is the Miao Shiming Newspaper Collection Museum, the first private collection of newspapers in China. In 2001, the museum’s collection was listed as “the best newspaper collection in the Guinness Book of World Records” by the Guinness Headquarters in Shanghai.
