Lucun is located in the northern part of Yi County. It is another small village near Hongcun. The scenery may not be as eye-catching as Tachuan, but it has been ranked among the tourist attractions because of its rare wooden carving building.
The ancient residential complex in Lu Village was built by Lu Bangxie, a senior official in the imperial court during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. The famous Wood Carving Building is the pinnacle of Huizhou art. The owner at that time hired two craftsmen to spend nearly 20 years carefully carving it. It is known as the “No. 1 Wood Carving Building in Huizhou”. The fineness of his wood carvings and the high level of his artistic achievements are breathtaking. It mainly includes Zhichengtang, Sijitang, Sichengtang, Glass Courtyard and other houses.
The Huangmei drama “Huizhou Women”, which once aroused great repercussions, was staged with the wooden carving building as the scene. In 2002, the famous film actor Siqin Gaowa came to Lu Village for her starring role in “Out of the Blue Water River” and became an “honorary villager” in Lu Village.
