Li Ruicai’s former residence is located in Likeng Village, Wuyuan. This is the former residence of Li Ruicai, a Confucian businessman in the early Qing Dynasty. The former residence is not large in area, and it does not have the luxurious atmosphere that people imagine Huizhou merchants’ residences have. However, it has an elegant temperament and exquisite wood carvings. Because of his wealth, his former residence was equipped with exquisite three-dimensional carvings (brick carvings, stone carvings and wood carvings) to decorate the house, making people feel that entering the house is like entering a gallery of sculpture art.
