·Kunning Palace is the last of the three palaces in the inner court. Its name is taken from the sentence “Kun is Yi Ning” in the Tao Te Ching, so it is named Kunning Palace. In ancient times, the status of the queen was opposite to that of the emperor, and she was the most noble woman in the world. Kunning Palace echoed the Qianqing Palace where the emperor lived. In the Ming Dynasty, it had always been the palace of the empress, the empress of the palace. In the Qing Dynasty, Kunning Palace was rebuilt in accordance with Manchu customs. The style of the renovated Kunning Palace is full of Manchu cultural characteristics. Its main function has also been changed from the queen’s palace to a place of worship. On the days of big sacrifices and the first day of every month, On the 15th, the emperor and empress will come here in person to worship the gods. During every major celebration and New Year’s Day, the queen will hold celebrations here. In addition, it also has an important function, that is, it serves as the emperor’s new house for his wedding. During their weddings, the three emperors Kangxi, Tongzhi, Guangxu and the late emperor Puyi, who ascended the throne at a young age, first lived in Dongnuang Pavilion of Kunning Palace for two days, and then returned to Qianqing Palace or Yangxin Palace. Nowadays, the Dongnuang Pavilion in Kunning Palace is still decorated according to the original layout of the wedding room of the Qing emperor during his wedding.
·Every year in early April, the apricot flowers in Kunning Palace begin to bloom, with pink and white apricot flowers covering the branches.
