Sixi Jingxu Hall was originally famous because a large number of scenes in the “Liao Zhai” film and television were shot here. “Jingxu Hall” is the largest ancient residence in Sixi Village, and it is also the best-preserved commercial house. It was built in the 20th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1815). The founder, Yu Wenjie, also known as Jiji, also known as Jinsan, was granted the title of “Xu Zhuanzuo Shilang” and “Gongsheng”. “Jingxu Hall” consists of a courtyard, main hall, back hall, flower hall, kitchen and garden, covering an area of more than one acre. The gate of “Jingxu Hall” faces north and is open in front of the door, close to Sixi River. Since the owner was born in Gongju and has an official title, it is naturally superior and more elegant than ordinary commercial houses. When you walk into the gate, the door facing you is called “Yimen”, commonly known as “Zhongtang Gate”. Normally, the door is closed, and only distinguished guests will open it. Walking through this door, it is indeed extraordinary. The well is wide, the hall is spacious, and the upper floor is surrounded by a horse-drawn corridor. This hall and its furnishings are typical of the Qing Dynasty. There is a “Jingxu Hall” plaque hanging above the upper door, paintings in the middle hall hanging below, and couplets on both sides. There are bells, vases, and mirrors placed on the table. This is called “East Vase and West Mirror”, which is homophonic to “East Ping and West Jing”. That is to say, no matter you travel east or west, you will be safe and quiet. This is the family’s wish for the owner who is doing business abroad. Together with the long ringing bell, it also means lifelong peace.
