Jiaotai Hall is located in the Palace Museum in Dongcheng District. Above the throne in the center of the hall hangs the “Inaction” plaque written by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. On the screen behind the throne is the “Inscription of Jiaotai Palace” written by Emperor Qianlong. In the east room, there is a copper kettle dripper that keeps time, which was no longer used after the reign of Emperor Qianlong. The self-ringing clock is about 6 meters high and was made in the third year of Jiajing in the Ming Dynasty. It is the largest ancient clock in existence in China. Emperor Shunzhi of the Qing Dynasty also set up an iron sign here that “the inner palace is not allowed to interfere with political affairs.” Today, the treasure box is still displayed in the Jiaotai Hall in its original position.
