Shenlong Cave was discovered by the Buyi ancestors of Zhedou Village more than 300 years ago. It once served as a military fortress for the local Buyi people to resist the official bandits. The military facilities are still preserved today. This cave is also revered as the “Sacred Cave” by the local Buyi ethnic group. The cave is divided into two layers of dry caves and one layer of water caves. The underground river at the bottom is connected to the Huangguoshu Waterfall. The halls in the cave are connected, and the caves are criss-crossed. There are more than 100,000 stalactites in the cave, which are large enough for more than ten people to hug and as small as embroidery needles.
