Yue Fei Square is located to the east of Yellow Crane Tower Park. It is a tourist area with the theme of commemorating Yue Fei, the famous anti-gold general of the Song Dynasty. It mainly includes Yue Fei Pavilion, Yue Fei Bronze Statue and Yue Fei Gongde Square. Yue Fei, a famous general who fought against the Jin Dynasty in the Southern Song Dynasty, stationed troops in Ezhou (today’s Wuchang) under the Yellow Crane Tower for 7 years. He used Ezhou as his base during his three Northern Expeditions against the Jin Army. After the Marco Polo Bridge Incident in 1937, the Chinese nation was at a critical moment of life and death. Yue Fei became a patriotic model who inspired the people to fight against the Japanese invaders. Yue Fei Tourist Area embodies people’s commemoration of the great patriotic general and promotes the patriotic spirit of the Chinese nation.
