Hua Filial Son Temple is located inside the ancient Huishan Temple in Xihui Park, Wuxi City. It is dedicated to Hua Bao, the filial son of Wuxi during the Eastern Jin Dynasty.
In the third year of Jianyuan of the Southern Qi Dynasty (481), Emperor Gao of the Qi Dynasty bestowed upon Huabao his former residence as a “filial son”, which was recorded in the “Book of the Southern Qi”.
The main building in the west of the pool is the Xiangtang. It was built in the 21st year of Chenghua in the Ming Dynasty (1485) and renovated in the 27th year of Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty (1762). It still maintains the style of the Ming Dynasty; it has three bays and eight shelves, a hilltop, and a nanmu structure, but with square columns. Both the base and the pillar base are made of stone, and the decoration is simple and elegant. There are 35 inscriptions from the Ming and Qing Dynasties embedded in the inner wall, most of which were copied in 1984.
