It is located about 60 kilometers southwest of Ergun City. In the west and northwest, it faces Russia’s Priargonsk District across the Ergun River. The town covers an area of about 1065.68 square kilometers, the border line is about 130 kilometers long, and the water boundary between China and Russia is about 86.7 kilometers long. In 1689, after the Sino-Russian Treaty of Nerchinsk was signed, the Qing government set up Karen (posts) on the Ergun River, of which three, four, five and six were all in Heishantou. In 1952, Heishantou was placed under the jurisdiction of Ergun from Chen Banner. Heishantou Town is a multi-ethnic residential area with Chinese-Russian descendants and Russians as the main body, and Han Chinese as the majority. The main passage for passengers and goods in Heishantou Town is Labu Dalin—–Heishantou Highway. Heishantou Town was approved by the State Council as a national first-class land port in 1989.
