The Jieguan Pavilion is called Huanghua Pavilion, and the pier in front of the pavilion is called the Big Wharf. You can see the Big Wharf Archway, Huanghua Pavilion, the Pilingyi Stone Stele in the pavilion, and the Big Wharf beside the ancient canal. According to historical records, when Qianlong visited Changzhou in the south, he landed at this large wharf twice and entered the city. Grate Lane was originally called Flower Market Street. In ancient times, there were rows of comb shops in the lane that also sold palace flowers. Because in ancient times, palace lanterns were hung in every shop in Bieji Lane at night, and lights were hung in every factory, which often stayed on all night long. The sparkling lights are reflected in the canal water and on the boats on the shore. The lights complement each other and look like a golden dragon from a distance when standing on the Wenheng Bridge. It is a beautiful and charming scene. This is known as one of the eight scenic spots in the western suburbs of Changzhou - “Gate beam lights”.
