Fuliang Ancient City is located on the outskirts of Jingdezhen, 8 kilometers away from Jingdezhen City. The ancient city of Fuliang was built in the 12th year of Yuanhe in the Tang Dynasty (817 AD). It has been the seat of Fuliang County governance throughout the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The entire city layout of Fuliang Ancient City is shaped like Bagua. The city wall is more than 20 miles long, 1.6 feet high and about 1.6 feet wide. Jingdezhen has always been under the jurisdiction of Fuliang County in history. Bai Juyi, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, once lamented that “businessmen valued profits over separation. The month before last, they went to Fuliang to buy tea.” This fully reflects the long history of porcelain tea culture in the ancient city of Fuliang. Yan Zhenqing, Liu Zongyuan, Wang Anshi, Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, Foyin, Fan Zhongyan, Yang Wanli and other literati of the past dynasties all fell in love with Fuliang’s landscape and culture.
