There is no parking lot in the Forbidden City, and the surrounding public parking lots are also far away, so it is not recommended to drive there.

Off-season: Entrance fee 40 RMB/Treasure Hall 10 RMB/Watch Hall 10 RMB (November 1st - March 31st of the following year, Tuesday - Sunday)
Peak season: Large entrance fee 60 RMB/Treasure Hall 10 RMB/Watch Hall 10 RMB (April 01-October 31, Tuesday-Sunday)
Half-ticket: (1) Those over 18 years old and with a bachelor’s degree or below (excluding adult education) can purchase student tickets. The large ticket price is 20 yuan per person in low and peak seasons, and the treasure hall and watch hall are 5 yuan per person in low and peak seasons. When checking in, you must present valid identification such as your student ID card and a letter of introduction from the school.
(2) Senior citizens over 60 years old (including 60 years old) can enjoy half-price tickets with valid original ID cards. That is, 30 yuan/person in peak season; 20 yuan/person in off-season; and 5 yuan/person in both off-season and peak season for Treasure Hall and Clock Museum.
(3) Those who hold the city’s social security pension certificate can enjoy half-price tickets with the original relevant valid certificates.
(4) On Women’s Day (March 8th) (if the museum is closed on a Monday, it will be implemented one day in advance), women can enjoy half-price discounts on tickets.
(5) On Children’s Day (June 1) (if the museum is closed on Monday, it will be implemented one day in advance), the accompanying parent of children under 14 years old can enjoy a half-price discount.
Free admission: (1) Chinese citizens under 18 years old (including residents of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and foreigners with permanent residency) can visit for free, but must make a reservation. Minors under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult when visiting the hospital. One adult can bring up to 3 minors under the age of 14.
(2) Retired cadres can visit for free with their retirement certificates.
(3) Disabled people can visit for free with their disability certificates. Chaperones do not enjoy discounts and must make an appointment.
(4) On the “August 1st” Army Day (if the museum is closed on a Monday, it will be implemented one day earlier), active military personnel, retired military personnel, retired military personnel, fire rescue personnel, family members of martyrs, family members of military personnel who died in the line of duty, and military personnel who died of illness. Survivors and family members of active military personnel can visit for free with valid ID.

- The Palace Museum is closed on Mondays (except legal holidays). Visitors are requested to arrange their visit time in advance.
- The Palace Museum does not sell same-day tickets. All visitors (including those who enjoy preferential policies and accompanying persons) must make a real-name reservation to visit. Visitors with annual passes must register for the visit at least one day in advance.
- Mainland Chinese visitors can only use their ID cards. Non-mainland Chinese visitors should use the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents, the Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents, the Residence Permit for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Residents, the Foreigner’s Permanent Residence ID Card or Passport for ticket booking and check-in. The same document must be used for ticket booking and check-in. Only one ticket can be reserved per visiting day.
- Visitors must bring the original valid ID used when making the reservation to check in at the Meridian Gate (South Gate of the Forbidden City).
- Tickets (large tickets and reservations for the Watch Hall, Treasure Hall and Exhibition Hall) should be reserved at 20:00 7 days before the visit, and are only valid for use on the day of the visit. Once tickets are checked, they are non-refundable.
- Unused tickets (large tickets and reservations for the Watch Hall, Treasure Hall and Exhibition) can be refunded through the original booking channel before 24:00 the day before the visit, excluding no-shows; tickets can still be refunded before 20:00 on the day of the visit, but One no-show will be counted; tickets cannot be refunded after 20:00 on the day of visit, and one no-show will be counted. Large tickets for annual pass visitors who have registered but have not checked in can be canceled through the original order channel before 20:00 on the day of visit, and no-shows will be excluded.
- Some exhibitions require reservations, please refer to the reservation page information. The reservation policy may be temporarily adjusted due to opening management requirements. Please understand and cooperate with on-site staff management. If you need to unsubscribe, please do so through the original booking channel before 24:00 the day before the visit. No-shows will be excluded. Failure to unsubscribe after the due date will be counted as one missed appointment.
- Each person will be counted as no-showing once per day, and there will be a total of 3 no-shows within 180 days. Starting from the day after the third no-show, you will not be able to make reservations for tickets and exhibitions at the Palace Museum within 60 days.
