The overall building of the Dunhuang Folk Museum adopts the traditional Dunhuang folk castle-style building that has the functions of preventing bandits, theft, and sandstorms. It is the most popular courtyard form among Dunhuang residential buildings. Its architectural style is simple and elegant, its wooden structure is carefully crafted, it is spacious and bright, and its interior furnishings are diverse and simple. It is an important place that reflects Dunhuang folk architectural style and folk culture. There are 126 houses in various ancient architectural styles in the museum, which fully demonstrate the folk customs of Dunhuang. The Dunhuang Folklore Museum uses the rooms in the quadrangle and front yard to display Dunhuang local folk culture, religious beliefs, life rituals, birthdays and birthdays, seasons, food, clothing, housing and transportation, food and daily life, snacks, weddings and funerals, offerings to gods and ancestors, and ceramic utensils. There are more than 20 exhibition rooms to visit, such as production and life, entertainment and competitions, business customs, celebrity calligraphy and painting, four treasures of the study, jade carvings and jewelry, folk embroidery, etc.
