The East Garden was built during the Yongzheng period of the Qing Dynasty. It was originally the ancestral residence of Hu Wenzhao and consists of three halls: the main hall, the front hall and the living room. There is a fan-shaped stone window above the door cover of the East Garden, which is homophonic for “good”. There is a leaf-shaped leaky window embedded in the left wall, which represents the owner’s return to his roots after falling leaves.
