Chenxiang Pavilion, formerly known as “Ciyun Temple”, covers an area of ​​2,378 acres. It is a unique bhikshuni temple. In the pavilion, there are Tianwang Hall, Daxiong Hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Jialan Hall and Master Yingci Memorial Hall. Chenxiang Pavilion is famous for enshrining “Agarwood Guanyin”. The original Guanyin statue has been destroyed by catastrophe ten years ago. What is now enshrined in the Guanyin Pavilion is the Ruyilun Guanyin statue made of Haiqiongshui agarwood that was later donated by Hong Kong believers. In front of the pavilion, there is a four-column, three-door, double-eaves archway with the three characters “Agarwood Pavilion” inscribed by Sha Menghai. In the Hall of Heavenly Kings, Maitreya wears a heavenly crown, with his right foot placed on his left foot. This is the appearance of a Bodhisattva when Maitreya was practicing in Tusita Heaven. It is the true form of Maitreya, which is very different from the big-bellied Maitreya in other temples. On both sides are the four heavenly kings, standing in a posture that is different from the sitting posture in ordinary Buddhist temples. In the center of the main hall is the “Three Saints of Huayan”. In the middle is the Buddha Lushena, flanked by Manjushri and Samantabhadra, as well as Brahma and Sakyamuni. This kind of offering is also rare in Jiangnan temples. The Avalokitesvara Guanyin is enshrined in the Guanyin Pavilion, which is known as the “Ruyi Wheel Guanyin”. Chenxiang Pavilion is as famous as the three famous temples of Longhua, Jing’an and Jade Buddha. In 1988, it was listed by the State Council as one of the first batch of 142 key open temples nationwide. Although the current agarwood Guanyin is not the original image, it still possesses both form and spirit, and has all manners of manners. It is a treasure among Buddhists and the incense is flourishing all day long.
