Cave 9 and Cave 10 are a set of double caves. They are the two caves with the strongest palace flavor among the Yungang Grottoes. Moreover, these two caves are distinguished by columns in the front hall, which is a major feature of Yungang. The front halls of the two caves each have two stone pillars with exposed roofs. The pillars are octagonal, with ten levels of Buddhas carved on the surface of the pillars. The base of the pillars is carved with Xumi seats, which are placed on the base of the pillars, and the base of the pillars is an elephant. It is a pity that the carvings on the outside of the column and the elephant heads on the base of the column have been completely weathered and can no longer show the magnificence of the past. The outer halls of the two caves are each divided by two pillars, forming a three-bay layout. The carvings in the outer halls are extremely delicate and luxurious. The arrangement of the internal space of the front room directly reflects the layout principle of the double cave. The plane is rectangular. The back room is similar to Cave 7 and Cave 8. The east, north and west walls of the front room are about ten meters high and neatly planned. The horizontal lotus petal pattern belt divides the three walls into upper and lower floors, echoing the sequence of the back room. The arrangement of Buddhist treasures on the east, west and north walls more clearly reflects the significance of the double caves.
The west wall of Cave 9 and the east wall of Cave 10 are two sides of the same partition wall. There are house-shaped niches on the upper floors of the two walls, left and right pillars, a seated Buddha with crossed legs in the middle, standing statues of Bodhisattva on the left and right, and a flying sky above the attendant. Almost identical. Secondly. The upper storey room-shaped treasures on the east wall of Cave 9 and the west wall of Cave 10, with their left and right octagonal pillars, the seated Bodhisattva with crossed legs in the center, and the seated Bodhisattva in lotus position with attendants on both sides are also in the same form. In addition, the two Buddhas sitting in niches on the upper and east floors on the upper floor of the north wall of the two caves, the east and west wings on the lower floor, the arched lintel niches, and the left and right octagonal columns are also of the same form, but the placement of the main image is different. The architectural structure of the house-shaped niches in the double caves imitates the wooden structures with tile roofs since the Han and Wei dynasties.
