Ceramics can be divided into three lines. If you walk delicately, one line can be arranged for one day; if you walk quickly, three lines can be arranged for one day.
- West line, north to south, Ceramic City-China Porcelain Garden-Gu Kiln Ceramics Expo Area-Xindu Private Ceramics Park.
Coming out of Jiujing Expressway, Hangrui Expressway and the airport is the China Porcelain Garden and Ceramic City on Yingbin Avenue.
China Porcelain Garden, also called Jinxiu Changnan, has low, medium and high-end porcelain. There is an old porcelain tile market on Saturday or Sunday.
Ceramic City, mid- to low-end market. Diagonally opposite the China Porcelain Garden. Empty your stomach before visiting, as toilets in Ceramic City are difficult to find.
The Ancient Kiln Ceramics Expo Area includes old kilns, workshops, and tourist attractions. Although it is a tourist attraction, the kiln inside is the original old kiln that was completely relocated and is worth a visit.
Xindu Private Ceramics Park has a cluster of workshops and a variety of crafts. Most of the workshops are open, making it easier to visit. If you are looking for a workshop to make things, Xindu is a good choice.
Highly recommended: ancient kilns and porcelain stalls in the China Porcelain Garden. There is a shop called Xiaozhu Fucaiduoduo in the China Porcelain Garden that is also worth seeing.
- Urban line, Lianshe North Road-Jinchangli-Guomao-Fanjiajing, these places are connected by a line from north to south.
Lianshe North Road, a high-end market, has many craftsmen’s stores and a ceramics museum.
Jin Changli has low, medium and high-end products.
Guomao, which sells many mid- to low-end products, has old porcelain stalls at the south end of the market on Monday or Tuesday mornings.
Fanjiajing specializes in mid-to-low-end antique porcelain, and sells some old porcelain pieces at the entrance.
There are also Imperial Kiln Museum and Jixiangnong Ancient Ceramics Research Institute in the urban area. The imperial kiln is currently basically empty, with nothing to see. At the Archaeological Research Institute, if you take someone with you, you can see many official kiln porcelain fragments and restorations.
Key recommendations: Guomao’s porcelain stalls and Fanjiajing. You can find a lot of good stuff in Fanjiajing.
- East line, Sculpture Porcelain Factory-Old Factory-Hutian. Sculpture and Old Factory are two or three stops apart. Enter from the gate of Sculpture Porcelain Factory on Dongyi Road, exit through the back door of Donger Road and run towards the Old Factory.
Sculpture and porcelain factory, with many creative students, artists and ceramics shops. On Saturday morning, there was also a lively pottery stall activity mainly held by students from the Ceramics Institute.
Old factory, glaze street and workshop village. You can go there to buy glazes, and you can go there to find workshops to make things.
The workshops of the old factory mainly produce low-grade porcelain, with a lot of manual work and a poor environment.
After shopping, you can go to the Hutian Ancient Kiln Site, visit the Folk Kiln Museum, the Yuan Dynasty Gourd Kiln and the Song Kiln Site. If you have someone with you, you can also pick up some old porcelain pieces from the Song Dynasty, Yuan Dynasty and Ming Dynasty. If you are lucky, you can also pick up some at Yangmei Pavilion. White porcelain from the Later Tang Dynasty.
Now that we’re done, let’s go have a meal at Sanbao International Ceramics Village’s “Shiwai Ceramics Source”. This place has a better environment, close to mountains and rivers, and the taste is pretty good, and it’s not expensive.
However, it seems that their work area does not normally receive tourists. It is only open during National Day and so on.
Highly recommended: Sculpture Porcelain Factory’s pottery stalls and Shiwai Ceramics Source. The pottery stalls are only available on Saturday mornings, and they are crowded.
