Hello, the answer to your question is as follows, see the picture below. I used this picture as a reference when I was hiking on the high road two and a half years ago, but I am old and frail, so my hiking speed was more than twice as slow.

  1. There are generally two starting points for hiking on the Tiger Leaping Gorge High Road.
    A. Tiger Leaping Gorge Scenic Spot Ticket Office — (walk a few hundred meters) Tiger Leaping Gorge hiking starting point — Naxi Yage… The scenery on this section of the road is average. When I was hiking on the high road two and a half years ago, the road was being built and the dust was flying, so I gave up on this section of the road.
    B. Go directly to Naxi Yage and use this as the starting point. This is where I started, as did many tourists.
    C. There is only one destination, TINA’S Inn (Zhongxia Hotel, Zhongxia International Youth Hostel) on the side of the highway. After going down the mountain to here, the high-road hiking is complete, and this place belongs to the Zhonghutiao area.
  2. It is very inconvenient or even non-existent to take a taxi when returning. But you can return by bus. There is a parking lot next to TINA’S Inn. The bus returns to Lijiang on time at 3pm every day. This is the starting point.
    Special instructions:
  3. Tina’s Inn in Zhonghu Leaping Gorge (Zhongxia Hotel, Zhongxia International Youth Hostel, 13988771688?), located in Lijiang —
    Shangri-la
There is a parking lot next to the road in the middle. Lijiang—Zhonghu Leaping Gorge—
    Shangri-la
The tourist shuttle buses transfer here, which brings great convenience to tourists.
  4. Contact the driver of Tina’s Inn in advance (18760880888?) and gather at Lijiang “Royal Foot Therapy First Class Changshui Road Branch” at 9:40 in the morning. Depart at about 10:15 and arrive at about 11:15
    Shangri-la
At the tourist service point of the Tiger Leaping Gorge Scenic Area, buy your ticket and get on the bus and continue. Go directly to the second intersection of the Tiger Leaping Gorge High Road Hiking (the driver knows the location of the intersection, and it takes nearly an hour to climb from the intersection to Naxi Yage). Tina’s Inn is the end point.
  5. When returning on the third day, drive back to Lijiang on time from the parking lot in front of Tina’s Inn at 3pm (stop at Teacher Zhang’s Inn on the way, 13308875575?). if to
    Shangri-la
    , also departing from Tina’s Inn at 3 p.m.
  6. Arrival in Lijiang
    Shangri-la
Nowadays, trains are connected and there are many trains.
    Shangri-la
You can also take a train back to Lijiang.
  7. The end of the hike is right next to the highway. In addition to TINA’S Inn, there is also Teacher Zhang Inn. In the middle of the high-road hike, there are Tea Horse Inn (13988707922?) and Halfway Inn (Halfway, 13988700522?) on the mountainside. The other inns are not marked on the map. You can reserve a room in advance, so you probably won’t be unable to find a room.
  8. There are two ladders, one is the ladder at Teacher Zhang’s Inn (I don’t know the details), and the other is the ladder in the picture. Take a photo from the bottom up. There is a trail next to the ladder, which you can climb up without the ladder. They will definitely come together in the end, but the meeting point is unclear (it probably won’t be very far apart).
See the picture below: This is the ladder to the Zhonghu Leaping Gorge. Take pictures from the bottom up. There is a trail next to the ladder, which allows you to bypass the ladder and climb up, but I still want to climb the ladder to experience it. It is not recommended for those who are afraid of heights.
See the picture below: Take a photo from the top of the ladder in Zhonghu Leaping Gorge. The ladder is very steep, so be careful when standing here. I left half of my foot when taking pictures (otherwise I won’t be able to maintain my balance). The blue object under the ladder is the iron roof of a small pergola. The workmanship of the ladder is a bit rough, but it still feels solid when climbing. Some articles describe climbing the ladder as “thrilling” and very challenging. Are they exaggerating? Frankly speaking: I didn’t feel anything when climbing (maybe I was so nervous that I “forgot” my fatigue), and climbed up smoothly. It felt better than climbing a ladder, because the ladder is stronger and more stable than the ladder (my backpack was held by a horse) Master Xia was carrying it, and I was only carrying the camera).
Visually, the height of the ladder is about 30 to 40 meters, and the angle is about 80 degrees. It took me about 6 minutes to climb. It is not recommended for those who are afraid of heights.
  9. Be sure to check the weather forecast when traveling. There is little point in asking people in advance. I am used to looking at the 2345 weather forecast (downloaded on my mobile phone). If the weather is bad, change your itinerary and don’t “travel blindly”.
See the picture below: Standing here and looking out (the end of the 28th turn, a small pergola), you can have an unobstructed view of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and the valley is steep and steep. The Thirteen Peaks of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain are located to the east of the Jinsha River, lined up from south to north. The entire snow mountain is composed of thirteen peaks, stretching for about 35 kilometers and about 13 kilometers wide from east to west. Opposite the Haba Snow Mountain across the river, the surging Jinsha River is rushing through it, but you can’t hear the sound of the waves lapping the shore here. The main peak is steep, with an altitude of 5596 meters, but I can’t tell which peak is the main peak.
Tiger Leaping Gorge is the second deepest grand canyon in China (with a drop of 3,900 meters), second only to the Brahmaputra Grand Canyon (with a drop of 5,300 meters). The canyon faces Yulong Snow Mountain in the southeast and Haba Snow Mountain in the northwest. The mountains on both sides are steep and almost vertical within 200m above the river surface. The rocks on the side near Tiger Leaping Gorge are steep and almost cliff-like. There is no way to go. The rocks seem to be piercing through the sky, and the scenery is spectacular.
The following data is the author’s personal understanding and calculation. Please correct me if there are any inaccuracies.
  10. The upper mouth of Tiger Leaping Gorge is 1,800 meters above sea level, and the lower mouth is 1,630 meters above sea level. The average is (1800+1630) The canyon of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is about 3,900 meters deep.
  11. The highest point of Turn 28 is 2670 meters, 2670-1715=955, about 1000 meters. The vertical distance between the highest point of the 28 turns and the river is about 1,000 meters.
See the picture below: Two bridges fly to the north and south, and the natural chasm becomes a thoroughfare, which is a tribute to the construction of the country. The upstream white bridge is the Xining-Lijiang Expressway (National Expressway G0613)
    Shangri-la
The control works on the section to Lijiang are now open to traffic. The blue bridge downstream is Lijiang—
    Shangri-la
The railway bridge has been completed and opened to traffic. The two bridges are 600 meters apart.
The blue sky, the clear river water, the green mountains, the quiet countryside in the distance, it feels quiet and peaceful… I was always the only one climbing the Ancient Tea Horse Road. I couldn’t see anyone and felt a little lonely. These two bridges accompanied me along the way, but they are no longer visible as I go further from here.
See the following photos: You can vaguely see Shanghutiao Gorge Scenic Area on the roadside halfway up the mountain. Across the river is the Lijiang section of Shanghutiao Gorge. This side is Shanghutiao Gorge.
    Shangri-la
Section, these two Tiger Leaping Gorge scenic spots face each other across the river. The Tiger Leaping Stone on the left side of the picture lies in the river. The current time is about 17:51.
See the picture below: Watching the sunshine at Tea Horse Inn, Jinshan
See the picture below: On the edge of the cliff, an old lady was walking towards me with her child on her back and a bamboo cane in her hand, leading her flock.
See the picture below: Four big characters on the stone tablet: Zhonghu Leap Gorge
See the picture below: Compared with the Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge, the Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge is deep and narrow, with little sunlight, making it appear deeper. The river is rushing down from the canyon. It is the dry season in spring, and the distance between the two banks does not seem to be even 30 meters. Looking downstream, on the right side of the river (opposite the river) is the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and on the left side of the river is the Haba Snow Mountain. The two snow mountains tower into the clouds, forming a strong contrast with the canyon. Looking up from below, it feels like a sliver of sky.
See the picture below: I sat on a stone on the shore and watched the waves surging, splashing out piles of white spray, producing fine mist, and the river seemed to be boiling. Listening to the sound of waves hitting the rocks, there is a deafening feeling, and I feel the ferocious momentum of the waves hitting the shore. If it is during the flood season in summer, its majestic momentum should be even more spectacular. But I thought, I might not be able to sit here any longer by then. The water level has increased, and the spray and mist have already wetted my clothes.
