I have been to Phoenix three or four times. Although the ancient town has become more and more commercial in the past, I still miss the peace it brought to my restless heart every time I came to the town.
Because it’s only about an hour’s drive from my hometown. Last year I went back to my hometown for the Chinese New Year. On the third day of the Lunar New Year, my brother wanted to drive us out to play. After much deliberation, we still felt that only Phoenix was worth visiting.
Because of the Chinese New Year, Phoenix no longer has the hustle and bustle of the peak season, but it has the rare tranquility of an ancient town.
Walking in the bluestone alleys of Fenghuang, the wooden houses, wind and rain bridges, stilted buildings, and the red lanterns hanging on the corners of the eaves seem to bring back countless memories of childhood.

But at night, Phoenix changed from its usual simplicity and suddenly became gorgeous and colorful, which was really hard for me to accept. When the sky just set, the colorful neon lights immediately turned the town into a feasting and feasting scene. In addition, many people were setting off fireworks during the New Year. The lights, fireworks, crowds, and the colorful reflections of the light in the Tuojiang River, Phoenix seemed to be a lot more lively at that moment.
Maybe many people who come to Fenghuang to nostalgic for the past cannot accept the erosion of the ancient town by this vulgar color, but to be honest, maybe it is this vulgarity that creates a lot of simple happiness for ordinary foreign tourists.

The commercialization of Phoenix is inevitable in the historical torrent, but how to find a moment of tranquility in this noisy world is up to each of us.
Although I am not from Phoenix, as a Xiangxi person, I still feel proud to have such a longing for beauty in this hot land of my hometown, even if it is just for a moment.
