The ancient town is a relatively quiet ancient town suitable for leisure living. The ancient town is small, has a beautiful environment, antique flavor, and reasonable prices. The local residents are very friendly and feel very comfortable to live in. It is very suitable for people who like to enjoy life.
About accommodation
from
Zhenyuan
Take bus No. 1 from the train station, get off at the County Party Committee Station and enter the ancient town. There is only one main street in the ancient town, which is not long. There are many inns and hotels on both sides of the street, with one side facing the mountain and the other side facing the water. On the mountain side, there are many inns walking up the mountain, and it will be quieter at night; on the river side, the night view is better, but the singing in the bar will be louder at night.
About catering
For meals, you can go to the Xindaqiao area, which is the bridge next to the County Party Committee Bus Station and opposite the Zhusheng Bridge. This area is a bustling commercial street. You can enjoy the night view on the new bridge and eat delicious food at the bridge head. Local specialties include fish in sour soup, Changwang noodles, grilled fish, etc. If you are interested, you can try it. The more famous ones are Gucheng Red Sour Soup and Miao Auntie Fish Sour Soup. Many people come here to eat.
About attractions
The scenic spots in the ancient town are relatively concentrated and can usually be visited in two days.
Zhenyuan
The main attractions are listed below. The following is a two-day itinerary. If you take pictures and take your time, it would be good to relax for three or four days.
On the first day, you can go to Tiexi first. You can take bus No. 1 to Zhusheng Bridge, or you can walk to Zhusheng Bridge. There is a bus to Tiexi at the end of Zhusheng Bridge. Tiexi is known as Little Jiuzhaigou. The ancient paths in the scenic area are secluded, with gurgling streams, stone bridges, stone piers, and water curtain caves. Every step is full of scenery, which is very suitable for taking pictures. Finally, you reach Longtan. The water in the pond is blue-green and surrounded by branches. Pressing towards the pond, the depth of the pond is unfathomable. In the scenic area, there are green mountains and green water, and the air is fresh.
After returning to Zhusheng Bridge, you can visit Zhusheng Bridge. There is also Yandi Palace at the end of the bridge. It is very ancient and small. There is an explanation, but they will persuade you to donate, so it is up to you whether you want to see it or not. The Zhusheng Bridge is an ancient bluestone bridge with pavilions and stone statues on the bridge, indicating that it was once an important southwest thoroughfare.
Across the bridge is Qinglong Cave. The scenic area is relatively large, including Qinglong Cave, Zhongyuan Temple, Ziyang Cave, Wanshou Palace and other ancient buildings. The entire building complex is built on the mountain, up and down, at various heights, with carved beams and painted buildings, cliff hanging pillars, and high-rise buildings. You can overlook Wuyang River from here. With the Zhusheng Bridge as the center, the night view in this area is a highlight of the ancient town.
The next morning, you can go to Shiping Mountain first, right at the end of the Zhusheng Bridge. On Shiping Mountain there are the ruins of the ancient Miao Great Wall, which are sad and majestic. From the mountain, you can overlook the Wuyang River meandering through the entire ancient town, forming a scene of nine mountains embracing one city and one watershed covering two cities. Shiping Mountain is the best viewpoint to appreciate the ancient town and Wuyang River.
After going down the mountain, go to Heping Village. This is a national defense education base. It was originally a shelter for Japanese prisoners of war held by the Nationalist Government. It is also a good way to learn about a piece of history. Zhou Dawen’s former residence is close to Heping Village and is a patriotic education base. Zhou Dawen was one of the founders of the Communist Youth League. Unfortunately, he died young. The house is simple, exquisite and has a sense of history. It is shaded by green trees and is very well preserved.
Then you can stroll around the ancient town. There is an exhibition hall and a post office on the main street.

The exhibition hall was originally an ancestral hall. It is an ancient building and is very beautiful. It is now used as a museum to introduce

history. If you like, you can also go to the post office and buy a special postcard as a souvenir.

The most distinctive ones are the ancient alleys and ancient houses. Unlike many ancient alleys,
Zhenyuan

The ancient alleys in the area curve upward along the mountain, and the gates of the ancient houses are also diagonally facing the alleys, so they are called crooked doors and evil ways. Fuxing Alley, Sifangjing Alley, and Chongzikou Alley are all very old alleys. There will be beautiful archways at the entrances of the alleys. Walking up the alleys, you will see many ancient houses and flowers and plants all over the alleys. If you continue walking up, it will be okay. Seeing the mottled gate and moss-covered stone steps is full of ancient charm and is very suitable for taking pictures. If you encounter someone selling soft tofu, you might as well try a bowl and it will leave a mouthful of aroma. It’s almost time to go back after shopping.
