Jiuzhaigou Valley
Current recommended tour order:
Rize Valley, Zechawa Valley, Shuzheng Valley
, the following beautiful photos will also be analyzed for you in the order of attractions.
In addition, the entire
Jiuzhaigou Valley
Drones are not allowed to fly in scenic spots, so please obey them.
1: Nuorilang Waterfall
Nuorilang Waterfall was severely damaged after the earthquake. After many years of recovery, it is now reopened to tourists and is accessible to most tourists.
Jiuzhaigou Valley
After seeing the first point, everyone was still very excited and rushed to take photos, so the front host position was not the best choice.

At this time, avoid the crowds and try to go to the left. As shown in the picture above, you can not only take pictures of the waterfall without railings, but also because the angle is right, there is a high probability that a rainbow will appear (entering the scenic spot in the morning). A common technique that applies to waterfall photography or flowing water is to shoot with slow shutter speed to achieve a satin-like effect.
Nowadays, most cameras are equipped with anti-shake, so it is not too difficult to hold the camera for 110 second to 15 second and get a clear picture. In addition, sometimes there are railings to lean on, which makes it even easier. Of course, advanced pros with a tripod can use a tripod for longer exposures to achieve silky smooth effects.
Except for time-lapse, the photos in this issue were all taken handheld by Mr. Dog. For most travelers, a journey with as little weight as possible would be a better experience.
This spot is not suitable for landscape portraits, so you can take photos as you like.
2: Mirror Sea
When there is no wind, it is as level as a mirror, hence the name. Therefore, if you want to take pictures of the veritable “Sea of Mirrors” here, the biggest secret is to wait for calm wind, but because the time for a one-day tour is limited, you should not be too obsessed.

This point is also full of railings and is not suitable for landscapes and portraits. You can choose a point in the foreground (such as the trees in the picture above), or you can open up the composition. But it is not very suitable for time-lapse photography, which will be explained later in the time-lapse photography.
3: Sea of Five Flowers
This is
Jiuzhaigou Valley
The core point is also a very popular place for filming, so there are a lot of people.
Wuhuahai by caicaijuaner
With the snow-capped mountains in the distance as the core of the composition, the foreground is appropriately matched with branches, which is quite beautiful (or no foreground is required). After getting off the bus, I walked past the first crowded check-in area. Although there were railings, the composition was still quite perfect as shown in the picture above.

because water is
Jiuzhaigou Valley
So in addition to the general photography of water and underwater colors, another important point is the reflection of water. As shown in the picture above, the vertical composition can connect the two worlds above and below the water. Choose a shaded place so that the reflection of the scenery above will be particularly obvious, and the color gradation will be very beautiful.

Next, let’s talk about landscapes and portraits. The first place where people check in after getting off the bus is the only place without railings in this area. If you move slightly to the side, you can try to find a location with a certain degree of privacy as shown in the picture above. The left and right of this photo are the limit, and there are tourists waiting to take pictures.
Use the wide-angle end to capture as much scenery as possible, but it should not be too wide for the sake of good viewing. The next factor is the angle of light, so it is recommended to take side shots here.

Then there is the camera position just mentioned. Because there are railings here, the angle of the light is similar. Therefore, shooting the back looking into the distance like the picture above is very artistic and the posture is natural.
4: Pearl Beach Waterfall
The waterfall became even more beautiful after the earthquake. In addition, Tang Monk and his disciples walked here in the 83 edition of Journey to the West (possibly, because there are many scenic spots making this statement), and it became famous and crowded. Below the waterfall, there are many masters, senior brothers, and second senior brothers taking photos with tourists.

There is a very good camera position on the way down the steps from the top of the waterfall. As shown in the picture above, not only can you avoid the railings, but you can also see the foreground and the snow-capped mountains in the distance, and the crowds are also perfectly avoided.

Below the waterfall, you can only take high-level shots from the camera position. This camera position is just after going down the steps. It also has the foreground and the snow-capped mountains in the distance (this is the snow-capped mountains in another direction). This camera position has clear layers and is highly recommended.

Next is the landscape portrait. Because of the angle of light, it is best to take pictures of the background.
5: Changhai
This is the lake at the top of Zechawa Valley. It is quite large. Many people have missed it because they did not go to Zechawa Valley. In fact, this is a good place to take in large-scale scenery. The composition is grand, the environment is open, and the light and shadow change quickly, so Delay is also very suitable.
Changhai time-lapse photography by Caicai Juaner
Regarding time delay, first of all, a tripod is necessary. This position is deep on the plank road on the left side of the lake (take the big tree as a reference), and there are basically no tourists walking there, so it can be implemented. Because the plank road in the scenic area is made of wooden boards, people walking on it will produce certain vibrations. This is why Jinghai cannot be implemented. Too many tourists passing by will cause the picture to be unstable.
The other thing is time. Because of the one-day tour, I suggest that if you want to shoot a time-lapse, it is better to control it within half an hour. The light and shadow change quickly here, half an hour is enough. I did one picture every 20 seconds, a total of 60 pictures in 20 minutes.

The composition here can also try more different elements in the foreground, such as this complementary color stone and the reflection of the V-shaped valley behind.

In addition, there is a very large ancient tree here, which is not only suitable for the foreground, but also suitable for portraits. This is the highest point in the open area of the scenic spot. It was cloudy when we arrived. The advantage of a cloudy day is that you don’t have to worry about the angle of the light when taking portraits. The diffuse light is soft and you can compose the picture well.
Changhai Waterbird by Caicai Juaner
In addition, those who have a telephoto lens can wait for the scene in the picture above, because there are few tourists in the depths of the Haizi Plank Road and there are many water birds. The ripples created in twos and threes on the water are very beautiful.
6: Colorful Pond
Unfortunately, there is very little water in the colorful pool in early summer. Although the colors are dreamy, they are indeed lacking.

The camera position is as shown above. Waiting for the water to flow over the dry rocks, the color matching of the entire picture will be perfect.
7: Rhino Sea and Tiger Sea
These ones next to each other have similar styles.
Rhinoceros Sea by Caicai Juaner
If there is no wind or a breeze, we recommend the composition as above. There was a breeze when we arrived, and the reflection is in the impressionist style, which is also good.
Tiger Sea by Caicai Juaner
If it is windy, this is recommended, that is, a composition in which the foreground occupies part of the lake. These two examples are to illustrate the need for flexibility based on prevailing conditions.
8: Shuzheng Waterfall Group
This is a series of small and exquisite waterfalls. Different from Nuorilang and Pearl Beach, it is suitable for various small scenes.
Part of Shuzheng Waterfall Group by Caicai Juaner
Although it is small, you can still find a spot with a slightly larger relative height, such as the camera position in the picture above. Because the waterfall itself is not too big, the momentum of the shot will be much better when you squat and tilt up at some angles.

There are many trees here and the light will not be very strong. The slow door is very suitable for this series of waterfalls.
Shuzhenggou Xiaojing by caicaijuaner
You can also create photos by capturing some small scenes along the way, such as trees in the water. The main color is bright and can stand out from the background.
9: Shuzheng Qunhai
Shuzhenggou waterfalls are in groups, and Haizi is also small, exquisite and in groups, so it is called Shuzhengqunhai.
Shuzheng Qunhai by caicaijuaner
The camera position for Shuzheng Qunhai needs to be at a high place, that is, near the return bus point. The overhead shots from here can capture the layers of the group of seas, and the overall composition is also very good.
After watching the above clip, do you feel that the scenic spot has escaped from the hustle and bustle? This is also one of the reasons why people often lament that “there are so few tourists wherever Caicai goes”.
