It is about 280 kilometers and takes about 4 hours by car.
Considering that the southern service area (Waishuangxi) is in the middle of the mountain, you have to walk on a winding mountain road to get there, which is not very safe at night. It is recommended to drive to the eastern service area (Jinsha), which is much easier to drive.
We stayed at the foot of the mountain on Friday night and took the ropeway up the mountain on Saturday morning.
How to take the route depends on whether you stay in the mountains on Saturday night. If not, take the big loop route:
Jinsha Ropeway → Python Plank Road → Python Peak → Goddess Peak → Yutai → One Line of Sky → Rishang Villa (or detour around Sanpaijian → Wanshou Garden) → West Coast → Sanqing Palace (if you don’t have enough time, return after watching the Monkey King and Treasure Viewing) Go directly to Sunshine Coast at the intersection of Yusonglin) → Sunshine Coast → Yuhuangding → Giant Python Peak → Jinsha Cableway.
If it’s a two-day tour (one and a half days), then go up the mountain via cable car to the Goddess Hotel on Saturday, and then take the big loop route (not the Wanshou Garden). After watching the sunrise on Sunday, walk along the south coast to Wanshou Garden, then pass through Rishang Villa to the west coast fork, walk towards Yuhuangding, return to the hotel to pick up your luggage, and then take the ropeway down the mountain.
