I went to Kumbum Monastery in July two years ago. It has a good reputation and there are really many tourists. I hired a guide, but I was dispersed by the crowd, so I had to go on my own. Kumbum Monastery is closed at night, so it is very quiet when you go there. You can stroll inside, but the various attractions are closed. I haven’t been to other temples, so I can’t comment.
